Hikes.
Kjerna. 250 to 650 m.o.h.
This hike is a bit more demanding but the view is really worth all the effort.
Kjerna is a cliff with a 400 meter cliff with the old fishing camp Skjellesvika below us.Magnetic view.
To the east, Norway's national mountain Stetind (1345 m above sea level) rises proudly. Stetind is the only mountain that was not covered during the last ice age in the area.
We take a lunch break by the small lake below Kjerna If the weather is nice, we will see the mountain peaks of Sweden, large parts of the dramatic landscape of Efjord and the vast bodies of water in Tysfjord. In the northeast you can see the huge Frostisen which is a glacier, towards the southwest Lofoten and the Atlantic Ocean.
Time: about 4 hours with breaks.
Difficulty: Technically moderate.
Svadet. 300 to 650 m.a.s.h.
This unique valley has been polished by the Ice Age and left to form one of the world's largest contiguous rock surfaces. The whole trip up Svadet runs along a huge granite surface where the surrounding sides are characterized by bonsai-like pine forest. A unique area with mountains in the present day.
This will be an easier hike. At the top of the mountain there is a small lake with swimming facilities for those who wish.
We eat lunch and enjoy the view.
Time:About 3 hours with breaks.
Difficulty easy.
This day we take a short stop at Håkonseth to see the finest view of Efjord and a trip out to Russvika to look for sea eagle feathers.
Gulliklikollen. 40 to 556 m.a.s.h.
An incredibly nice hike with amazing views both over Efjord and in over the eastern parts of Ballangen. We can see the glacier Frostisen from afar to the east near the Swedish border. The high pillars of Skjombrons and Narvik a little further north. When we reach the tree line, the forest changes from pine forest to sparse mountain birch forest and finally we reach the Karlfjället.
The trail continues in the rolling countryside past Gulliklivatnet where we stop to drink in the mountain stream and take a bath if we want. Here we eat our lunch. The last bit towards the top is easy to hike. Here at the top we also see Vargfjället to the north. Toppenhike simply.
Time: about 5 hours with breaks.
Severity.Mild to moderate.
Price: 16500 kr incl VAT.
